Low-Tech iPhone Amplifier

Designers Enrico Bosa and Isabella Lovero of Italian studio en&is created MegaPhone, a powerless iPhone amplifier. The piece consists of a sleek ceramic horn, supported by a wooden structure. This frame elevates the object from the surface and increases its vibration. The shape of the ceramic piece optimizes the emission of sound.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs has resigned as CEO of Apple in a letter to Apple's Board of Directors. In his letter, Steve asks to remain Chairman of the Board and appoints Tim Cook as his successor. The board has approved these requests, effective immediately.

"To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community: 

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee. As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple. I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role. I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you."

The O House, located in Vierwaldstättersee, Switzerland, was designed by Philippe Stuebi Architekten with Eberhard Tröger. Overlooking Lake Lucerne, its bold visual concept might classify it among slightly different minimal approach in architecture.

Woozik

Italian product designer Emanuele Cecini has recently completed the concept design of the Wi-Fi stereo and docking station, Woozik.

The system consists of a stereo, a remote control and two small speakers, supported by a plywood outer casing with a natural ash finish, which also acts as a stand.  Compatible with the Apple  iPhone, iPod, and iPad, Woozik can also be used via Wi-Fi or bluetooth connection through one’s computer.

Alarm Clock by Punkt

The AC 01 alarm clock by Jasper Morrison, designed for electronics manufacturer Punkt, was reduced to its essentials. The purpose of this design is to reintroduce us to the traditional alarm clock and stir us away from using a cell phone as a waking devise. With this simple timepiece by our bedside there will be no fumbling around in the dark, no radiation, and no unwanted calls in the middle of the night.

Simply Espresso

This minimalist concept for Nespresso was created by Israeli designer Eyal Carmi. His proposed coffee machine is reduced to its absolute essentials. No bulky components, no intimidating dials and controls… Just a water tank, pressure relief system, portafilter for ground coffee or capsules and removable drip tray. You can select between short and long espresso modes by simply turning the handle.

CD Player

Once again, we are going to talk about the top Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa. In this case, about his wall mounted CD Player, designed for MUJI in 1999. It is a modern classic part of the MoMA New York’s permanent collection.

Grandview for Mac

Software development agency Dark Heartfelt have created Grandview – a fully customisable and simple notepad, which allows for one-word-at-a-time-text-entry. By pressing a hotkey from any application on Mac, one can quickly enter a full-screen writing experience. The notepad allows the user to view text word by word, sentence by sentence, but also as a full page.

Calidu Rocking Horse

German industrial designer Günther Schunn is the creator of this sturdy, elegant and eco-friendly toy, infusing playtime with a valuable lesson in sustainability.

The oscillating motion of the Calidu Rocking Horse powers an OLED lamp, instigating children to produce power and light by themselves. The horse is made from oak wood, metal handles and a leather fringe tail that completes the look with a touch of authenticity.
